About the MABLL

The MABLL was founded in 1975 by Byron Snyder who was a fan of the Maryland Arrows of the original National Lacrosse League. The league began play at the Bowie Ice Rink and moved to the College Park Ice Arena in 1978. In 1986, long time player Don West moved the league to Sports Network in Manassas, Virginia. In the fall of 2006, the league moved to its current home at Dulles SportsPlex and will be moving to "The BOX" arena in the winter of 2006.  Indoor lacrosse has undergone many changes over the years and participation has dropped from its height in the late 90's. With the re-emergence of the MABLL, box lacrosse can once thrive in the DC area.

The league hopes to expand to the high school and youth divisions in the future which will bring box lacrosse to the masses.  Often maligned as not "REAL" lacrosse, the box game is a viable and self-sustaining sport that adds to the overall enjoyment of the game of lacrosse.

The league plays at The BOX Inline Hockey Arena in Chantilly, VA.  The BOX is the newest indoor arenas in the Washington, DC area and is also one of the areas largest.  With a 185' x 85' playing surface, regulation box lacrosse goals, dasher boards and and IceCourt flooring, its is the perfect place for box lacrosse in the DC area.
